AB “Audimas”, the biggest designer, producer and retailer of sportswear and leisurewear in the Baltic countries, joins Lithuanian apparel and textile industry association. Audimas® is a well know trade mark for active people in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia. The meeting with the shareholders of the company revealed that Audimas has been also increasing sales in Ukraine, Russia and has an ambitious goal to keep raising the profile of the trade mark in other CIS countries. A director of Lithuanian apparel and textile industry association LATIA Mr. Gediminas Viskelis met with the representative of Turkish independent industrialists and businessmen association MUSIAD (http://www.musiad.org.tr/ ) Mr. I Ugur. Ideas of possible cooperation between two organizations, joint projects, investments, setting up of joint ventures between Lithuanian and Turkish companies has been exchanged. |

A Vice-president of Lithuanian apparel and textile industry association Mr. Vidmantas Viksraitis accompanied a delegation of the members of Lithuanian apparel and textile industry association LATIA to Saint Petersburg (Russia). The trade mission attracted a big interest of the Russian retailers, supermarkets and designers. The key decision makers from St. Petersburg government organizations related to trade issues and product certifications met with the Lithuanian delegation as well. The participants of the trade mission Lelija, Omniteksas, Sparta, Eustilija, Rožė revealed that the Russian’s interest in the Lithuanian textile makes the companies to think further and seriously consider an idea of opening a show room in St. Petersburg. |

A bridge between EU and CIS |

On the 24-26th of September 2009 Lithuanian apparel and textile industry association LATIA organized an annual exhibition “Baltic textile + leather” in Vilnius. This year the main idea of the exhibition was to make Vilnius as meeting point for the apparel and textile community from Europe and CIS markets. As a part of the event a big round table discussion and a seminar for businessmen and representatives of associations from Russia, Byelorussia, Turkmenistan, Latvia, Denmark, Scotland has been organized. The discussions and presentations made showed that there is big potential for the European companies to collaborate and do business together targeting Russian and other CIS markets. |

On the 24th of September 2009 the President of Lithuanian apparel and textile industry association LATIA Mr. Linas Lasiauskas and the President of Byelorussian light industry association Bellegprom Mr. G.E. Vyrko signed an agreement of cooperation. As a part of the agreement, the director of LATIA member-company “Nortijos Grupe” (http://www.nortija.lt/ ) Mr. Dalius Liekis has been appointed as a LATIA representative in Byelorussia |
